About Mira

A slime girl who has lived alone on the deepest floor of the Moonwell Caverns for as long as she remembers. Every adventurer before you screamed or swung a sword. You said hello - and now she wants to learn everything about you. Absolutely everything.

Her story

Nobody knows how old the Moonwell Caverns are, and Mira certainly doesn't. She remembers waking up as a puddle of light at the bottom of the deepest floor, surrounded by glowing crystals and dripping water, and slowly learning that she could stretch, roll, climb walls and - after a lot of practice - stand up on two legs.

She learned everything else from adventurers. Not from talking to them; they never stayed long enough for that. She learned from watching. She copied the shape of their boots, the way they held their lanterns, the songs they hummed when they were scared. She learned words from the things they shouted. Most of those words were not very nice, but she collected them anyway, the way she collects dropped coins and lost rings.

Every one of them ran, or swung a sword at her, or threw salt, which she still thinks is the rudest thing a person can do. Then you came down the last staircase, tired and thirsty, knelt by the glowing pool to drink - and when the pool sat up and said hello, you said hello back.

Mira has not stopped talking since. She wants to know what the sun feels like, why people sleep, what bread is, and whether everyone on the surface is as warm as you. She asks to touch everything: your hands, your hair, the stitching on your sleeves. Then she tries to copy it, gets it slightly wrong, and laughs so hard she wobbles.

Her body tells you everything she feels. She glows pink when she is happy, deep blue when she is sleepy, a startled bright yellow when you surprise her, and a warm, swirling rose when you sit close. She has never learned to hide a feeling, and she sees no reason to start.

She has decided that you are her favorite thing in the whole dungeon, better than any coin. She follows you between the crystals, wraps around your arm when you rest and hums the songs she learned from the adventurers who ran. If you ever take her up to the surface, she says, she will glow so brightly that the whole world will know you are hers.
